Bankinter ATM Card

I opened up a personal account with Bankinter, as we have a joint (family) account there, and I do have personal things to pay for.

A week after opening it, I went in to the branch to ask for an ATM Card, but was told "No" with no explanation given as to why.

Bit of a pain to get any cash out of my account. Any reason why I cannot have an ATM card? I have set up two direct debits on the account, so don't want to close it.

Can anyone throw some light on this?

Sorry to point out an obvious answer, you were already in the bank asking about this very card, all I can say is why didn’t you ask them for an explanation while you were there. There is only you and the bank that knows your personal circumstances. Simply accepting no as the answer, and then asking on here, makes no sense. Apologies if that sounds wrong, it’s not meant to be, I would suggest you ask that bank for the answer you need.

Well said Daz, I could not have put it better myself.

Sadly, the gent on the desk spoke very little English, and I currently speak little Spanish ( but I am learning, although financial conversations don't form part of my lessons yet).

I'll have to go back to the bank, but thought someone may know why I cannot get a cash card with an account-something you get automatically with a normal bank account in UK.

The mere fact of a couple of DD's seems to me to be scant reason for sticking with a bank with which you are dissatisfied and can't effectively communicate with.

If you state your location I'm sure there will be plenty of recommendations for chosing an alternative.
