SMS messages from Spanish bank being blocked by UK mobile

I am a non-resident with a Sabadell bank account. For several years I have been able to access my account on-line using my NIE number and PIN number.
In the autumn Sabadell introduced a new system where they send an access code by SMS from a short code (5 digit) number. This apparently is intended to improve security! These messages are being blocked by my English mobile. Without the code I am unable to access my account on line.

Sabadell seem unwilling or unable to help - they simply tell me to call in to the branch. They seem to blame the mobile service provider.
My mobile service provider SKY also seem unwilling or unable to help. They blame the bank.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem? Does anyone have an Spanish bank account and English mobile which is able to send and receive these SMS codes ?

Grateful for any suggestions.

Hello all I can suggest is purchase a PAYG SIM card for Spain. Several do it, as all you need is local calls and messages.
We have both UK and Spainish for this same reason.
If Sabadell you have to pop into the branch to get them to add your Spanish number - sometimes it’s difficult on line or you can do it at the ATM.

I have the same problem, we bank with bankia and went into the branch when we were last over in October, bankia assures me they have the right mobile number but I still don’t receive a code, we’re back over in February so guess it’ll be another trip into the branch

Willemite is spot on that's what we used to do and not just for banks we found no end of places refused to answer the phone when they realised it was an English number,I bought hubby a dual SIM mobile for Christmas so sorted now!

You definitely need a Spanish number but be careful what company you go for as Sabadell are so secure that they don’t work with all PaYG. We have changed our providers twice for this reason.
Lebara definitely works and are very efficient to use.

Ah maybe that explains why I now don't get the SMS from Sabadell to set up mobile banking on my new phone. I had no problem with my old phone although it's the same British SIM and phone number. Either 3 are blocking it or the phone itself. I will have to investigate.

Hi we're same as Denton we have Lebara and we pay €10.00 and as long as we send or ring once every three months it rolls over also top up €10.00 you get €5.00 free!! For us absolutely fantastic!!

Use my English mobile using 3 with no issues at all for my Sabadell bank account so it maybe a setting on your phone. Why not go into Sabadell and check if they can fix the issue, they were certainly helpful when I started using their app.

Yes I've used their mobile app on 2 or 3 different UK phones and the 3 network with no problems for the last 3 years. My main phone (Samsung S7 Edge) has packed up and needs repairing under warranty so I've put my sim in my backup Nokia 5 phone. But I've also been into Sabadell to change my passport number as I've got a new passport. I can get into the account on my laptop but when setting up the app on the Nokia it doesn't receive the text with the code so I can't register the phone with Sabadell. I've checked on my laptop and they have the right UK phone number, so I think it must be the phone.
