You're probably best researching this on their website. It's all there: https://transferwise.com/

On the subject of La Caixa, has anyone had a e30 annual fee taken out for (I think) cards? And can anyone find on their website a note of the fees for accounts?

When they get taken over by another bank you will be able to refuse the new account terms and walk away

We started getting bank charges when Bankia was taken over by Caixa bank. Apparently we was moved into an account called Living Solutions. Also just been told we can cancel being in this account by paying 35 Euros! We didn't choose to be in this account and under Caja Murcia, then BMN, then Bankia our account was free for the last 18 years. We also sold an apartment recently and approached our Caixa bank branch about a mortgage. A condition of being accepted was that we had to have Life insurance, home insurance and a monitored alarm with Securitas. I must point out that the alarm would be on a 3rd floor apartment in a gated community, the manager also said that the alarm could be cancelled after 3 years, this is not the case according to their small print, you can cancel the Caixa bank payment but must continue the Securitas monitoring for the term of the loan . In the UK this would be mis selling. The cost of the Mortgage would double from 350 Euros to 700 Euros a month. Time to be looking for another bank now after 18 years. All because Caixa Bank is a commercial bank and only interested in what it can sell you at exaggerated cost. A note to glosman about your post from Feb 01. I have never had bank charges in the UK unless it was my business account and that was free for 3years, so if you have or had bank charges on a personal account, then you was in the wrong bank. I still have bank accounts in the UK and they are ''still free of bank charges''.

We were with Bancaja, then Bankia when it was taken over and now Caixa.
Probably different as we have a resident account but we have no charges whatsoever.

The T&Cs stated, when they took over, that pensioners with a pension payment of 300 euro or more per month, use the card 3 times per quarter and have 2 or more annual direct debits then there would be no charge. No stipulation on the minimum balance required in the account.

Also informed that the credit cards they issued us have no charges if used 3 times in a quarter but the debit card, still a Bankia one, would have one free card and a €36 annual charge for the second one.

I only use the Bankia debit card for items from Amazon as that is the one set up.

The credit card payments get taken from our main account on the 1st of each month and no charges have accrued. They did debit me €36 for the Bankia debit card but then refunded me that €36 the very same day with the explanation "for being you".

We don't have any insurances with the bank nor a mortgage or any other type of payments. I get one pension paid in per month, obviously direct debits for electric, water and SUMA bills and no hassle using the card in supermarkets etc as they prefer you to use them now. Also saves carrying cash around.

I suppose, if we were non residents, I would look around for something similar to Wise (there are a fair few around judging by my advertising emails) but quite happy at the moment. At least they allow you to open non resident accounts which is a rarity in UK.

La Caixa don't charge if you are retired and pay in at least €300 per month of pension money. It needs to come directly from your pension supplier.

All I can say is that I contacted my advisor at La Caixa and she told me. So I arranged for pension money to be paid direct from Scottish Widows, and I haven't paid charges since as she promised.

I see from Marcliff's post above that he had the same experience.
