Changing direct debits to Wise

Like many of you I'm fed up with being fleeced by Sabadell and want to close my account. I'm in the process of moving my DDs to Wise. SUMA was easy. Hidraqua is a pain. Turned up at the office and they don't see you unless you have an appointment. Told me to do it online or make an appointment. So I tried online and got nowhere just error messages. So I've made an appointment for tomorrow. I suspect the system doesn't like the Wise IBAN. Next I tried Naturgy gas. Even Speaking Spanish didn't get me anywhere. She just said the system wouldn't except the IBAN. She consulted with a colleague who said it must be a Spanish IBAN. I asked if she needed the BIC number and she asked me where to put it. I was strongly tempted to tell her! As it was evening I gave up for the day. Has anyone successfully moved DDs for these two entities using the Wise bank details? I would appreciate any relevant input. I'm bracing myself for Ibedrola now! Many thanks.

ask for the complaints book and tell them they are breaking EU law by not accepting the Wise Belgium Iban number

WISE themselves have got a help section for those Spanish companies who won´t accept an EU IBAN, as it is written in EU law that they should do so. Perhaps it is worth talking to them. In the meantime you could cancel the DD and just pay the bills as they arrive by using a direct transfer.

Thank you everyone who has responded already. JPEG thank you too - I have since spotted your reply in regard to Telfy explaining why companies, small ones at least, may not be able to set up DDs. I'm just starting. I'm here till August so will be on the case of the others!

For Hidraqua you need to get sign a SEPA/Direct Debit form - I just emailed their contact centre (via their website) with all my contract details, requesting this and they sent a completed PDF SEPA/Direct Debit to me which I signed, scanned and sent back to them.

You need to register and use the Hidraqua website to send the signed form back.

Thank you Keith103. That is very useful. I've got an appointment tomorrow so I might as well go to it. But I know what to do if I can't sign a SEPA form in the office.

No I haven't. Is that a Sabadell account? Is it open to non residents? All I keep reading about the need to keep feeding an account with a regular amount like a pension in order to get a free account.

Thank you Espanabums that is helpful. I was wondering how I would proceed because there is no way I am paying Sabadell another £200 in bank charges! That account is definitely closing!
