My husband's inhaler wasn't in his luggage when he arrived. We went to the pharmacy to enquire if he could buy it there. Symbicorte turbo inhaler ...not available( 200 micrograms). Spanish Alternative contains 160 micrograms at a cost of...wait for it....€51.90
Thankfully, his need for it is less than at home and he should have enough for his needs until we go home. Ask some family member to post or courier your medication from the UK or perhaps, it may not be too expensive to buy here. Check it out sooner rather than later and please let us know the outcome.

Is that a special type of inhaler? My son in law used to buy inhalers here as he could get three for the cost of one prescription in UK (he gets them free in UK now but it was good value then).
It all depends on which chemist you go to as well. Someone was asking about the cost of Omeprazole here as the chemist in Zenia Boulevard was €23 for a month supply. I enquired at the one by Gama and it was €2.43 for a month supply so rather a big difference.
Same with silly things like paracetamol. Some chemists will try to give the branded ones and I was shocked at over 5 euro for a pack in the chemist in the centre of town when the one by Gama sells generic ones for 57 cents (for 28 tablets - think they've just gone up to 63 cents).
When the Iceland volcanic cloud (remember that?) grounded flights, a couple across the road on about a dozen items each ran out and had to pay over €200 for the extra month medication from the chemist. They were, however, able to claim the cost of the medication back when they got home. Not sure if that is valid for a planned visit, though.

Edited: Just looked it up and the cost of that turbo inhaler to the NHS is £64 ($94.14 US) so, yes, it obviously is a special type of inhaler.
