We are registered as Spanish residents and have regular prescriptions from our Spanish GP. What happens if we go to UK for three months?

If you are over retirement age then your S1 (registered at Newcastle) will cover you. Indeed, it covers you throughout the EU.
UK don't require an EHIC (you'd be lucky to find a receptionist that even knows where it is) but they will register you as a temporary resident. Officially, if under retirement age and moved out of UK, you should pay for your medical treatment and your prescriptions (should be issued a private one) but, again, only hospitals seem to have the means of collecting payments.

So, retired then S1 covers you,]
Under retirement age then you should pay as UK is a resident not contribution based health scheme.

I understand that if you need presriptiions while away, you can buy them from your normal Farmacia here keeping the reciepts, and get your money back when you return.

Bring the repeat side of the prescription and then take that to a pharmacy when you're here and they will provide it.
