im waiting to have a hip replacement at Torrevieja Hospital. The surgeon has said the waiting list is 4 to 5 months which is ok.
Can anyone tell me roughly how much notice they give you prior to admission? My fiancée who is a nurse in the UK will be trying to get time off to come and help me before during and after the operation

I am not sure about hip replacements, But after having other opps, usually you have to see the anastheitist last, they normally give you a good idea, about 2 or 3 weeks after that.

I've had a replacement hip at Torrevieja hospital, once you've had your ecg it'll be shortly after that.
I can't remember exactly how long,it was about 4/5 years ago.

Hi Ron, if they operate similar to the UK, they will normally do the operation within a couple of weeks of doing your Pre Meds, (MRSA swabs ECG etc) these results are normally only valid for a maximum of 3 months before they need to do them again. Also check that you are getting occupational therapy, as you will need aids to get in and out of the shower and a raised toilet seat with handles so that you can raise and lower yourself on to the toilet.

It’s three weeks since I saw the anaesthetist at Elche general hospital who advised that the surgeon will call with a date and I’ve been expecting a call every day since. Nothing yet.
