Privately funded MRI scan?

Can you get an MRI scan privately in Spain without referral? Mentioned a dodgy knee to my UK GP during a routine appointment. Apparently the GPs now can't send you for an MRI scan. They have to refer you first to a skeletal clinic. So 6 weeks wait for GP appointment(got to get thru on the Hub first to make an appointment which could be an hour or more or not at all) then goodness knows how long before referral appointment and then the wait for the actual scan! This is the state of healthcare in the UK at the moment! Just wondered if I could bypass all that by paying for a scan when next in Spain.

There is a clinic by Haberneras, alonside the chinese restaurant, forgot the name of it now but I think they could possibly do it. There are lots of other private clinics around too.

Think this is the one:- http://www.imedtorrevieja.com/en/

Link to Quiron here https://www.quironsalud.es/torrevieja/e ... tion-guide Probably your best bet . You could contact them to ask for cost. Had an xray done there recently, was referred by a private doctor but it didn't even look like a referral was necessary. Practically walk-in. Xray only cost 51 euros. They gave me the results on a disc to take away...

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Looks like a GP referral may not be necessary. I will look into it when I’m next in Spain.

Hi, Quiron hospital, I use there quite a lot as I have a private insurance policy but I have seen people there who do not have a policy. Just go to the front desk and ask for an appointment for the Scan that you will require, you pay with cash or card not a problem.
