Has any lady had a mamagram done by the Pink Ladies charity? They sound very good, but do doctors do the testing ? I have tried private places but they are so expensive and with this charity you give a donation. I would be grateful for some feed back, thank you.

I had it done many years ago and had to go to Alicante for the mammogram, at the time they spoke Spanish (obviously) and no English, maybe things have improved for the ones who do not speak Spanish. They did ask for a minimum donation but obviously would like as much as you can afford. The centre saw a problem for me and told me to go to a doctor which I did immediately, I used St Jaime hospital at the time as I was not covered by the system here back in those days, I felt very confortable with my consultant and used them for the next 12 years. I am now covered by the health service here. If you are, ask your doctor for a Mammogram and smear.

I have had a mammogram booked through the Pink Ladies a couple of years ago and they are very helpful. I went to Alicante ( very easy to find) and paid 30 euros as a donation. They sent the results through the post but said if there was a problem they would phone.

Hi Babsie, you can book an appointment online. Mammograms cost 35€ and you can have it done at the IMED clinic in Torrevieja, near the Habaneras. All details are on their website, link below:

Hi,
If like me you are in the Spanish health care system go to your doctor and ask him to set up an appointment for both mammogram and smear test. Mammogram done at Torrevieja hospital and smear test at Acquecion hospital, but may be different for you living in Quesada. Once you're in the system they send you a reminder letter each time. I've had a few done and can't fault them.
