Hi,
I need to visit the dentist, but have an horrendous phobia of all things dental! Previously have had to take medication to "calm" me before hand, but this doesn't always work. I've had several bad experiences when younger and now really struggle to even get there for a check up!
So, I'm hoping that a hypnotherapist may be able to help me.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

What if you ask them to sedate you just a little, dentist are so different these days to when I was young, it was really scary then. When I was in my 20's I used to have general anesthetic to have a filling I was that bad, I don't think they do that now but these days I just go, you don't even feel the injection now, I just sit there and think that tomorrow will soon be here and it will all be over.. They are so gentle and really are understanding if you are nervous. I use Smile in Torrevieja by Aguapolis, Sonia a dentist in Quesada or Rojales is also recommened a lot on here.

Jonathan Gilchrist is a hypnotist and was at Sophia Wellness Centre, Calle Isla Formentera, 11, 03189 Cabo Roig, Alicante

Unfortunately, to sedate me i have to actually be at the dentist......and this is just as much a problem as having the treatment done!
I have had sedation for an extraction before, but it took 2 attempts to get there and almost brute force by my ex husband!!
I just want to overcome this irrational fear and be able to actually go for check ups and treatment without the absolute fear that takes over.

It's awful to have a fear like that, I hope you get sorted.

I take a diazepam (prescribed by my doctor) an hour before my appointment. I also think that a lot of the discomfort is caused by the cold jet of water from the plaque remover. If so, rinse your mouth with very cold water before you go in to your appointment. Hope this helps.

Hi, I am a practising hypnotherapist, Id love to help you, but with COVID, I am unable to see clients one on one and hypnotherapy really only works with face to face consultations. I could record a session for you, where you could listen each day. It can be very effective. PM me on [email protected] if you would like to discuss further.
