problem with private is they will not cover any pre-existing conditions or any thing associated to them if you have any, also the cheaper they are the less you get in cover ie length of stay in hospital or specialised treatments or even icu god forbid ,but covered on the health system

answer back from UK Pensions service regarding S1 entitlement
OHSREGISTRATIONS1, Nhsbsa (NHS BUSINESS SERVICES AUTHORITY)

to me

Good afternoon Fred,

Thank you for your email.

An S1 is issued by one country within the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, known as a Member State, to confirm responsibility for a person’s healthcare costs whilst they reside in another Member State.

The S1 entitles the person to the same health cover as a resident of that country, with the issuing country remaining responsible for these costs.

If you are in receipt of your UK state pension and you move to another EEA country, you will be eligible to apply for an S1. Once all eligibility criteria have been met, an S1 will be issued to you.

If you receive a pension from Spain, the country you are moving to, you would not be eligible for an S1, and Spain would be responsible for your healthcare.

If you have any further enquiries or issues, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for that jpeg.
I shall get on to my neighbours over the road and tell them the person they spoke to on the phone gave them duff gen.
Hope you don't mind if I show them the reply you got and, with a bit of luck, they won't get through to someone having a bad day.

Many thanks to all who replied to our query. We have been back and forth with our moving plans as Covid has progressed. Lets all hope 2022 will be a bit better.

Cheers.

John & Angie.
