Never been contacted to go for.

You should have been by now.
Have you tried contacting your medical centre? Everybody should have been called for the booster.

Due to the rise in cases of covid, especially among the elderly, the ECDC has recommended that the 2nd booster (the 4th vaccine) be administered to those over 80 sooner rather than wait until October.

There will be a meeting of the Spanish Health council early next week and this will be discussed but it is looking likely that the over 80s will be called for the vaccines very quickly.

Although these new variants are much milder, the numbers of elderly being admitted to hospital is on the increase. The ECDC says maximum protection is provided if the vaccine is given before the next onset rather than after.

Good, it's going to be needed. I've just visited a large concern and a few in there have COVID, still working and spreading it around, wrong in my eyes.

Definitely call your medical centre. They were doing booster vaccines at the Lo Marabu health centre on Monday morning when I took my wife to get her annual blood tests. (She was dead chuffed when she was told they were excellent and the ECG was perfect as she hasn't had them done for nearly 3 years).

My husband had a brain hem some years ago and five years ago a very dangerous superbug nearly killed him so he is particularly at risk. Hearing of more cases where we live in Rojales can anyone advise whether they have received their jabs in our age group? A friend in our age group who has sadly had cancer had his booster a month ago in Torrevieja................We are rather puzzled! Thank you.

The Public Health Commission in Spain today studied the recommendations from the EMA and the ECDC to give the second booster (the 4th vaccine) to all those over the age of 60.

On June 9th, they agreed all over 80s would have the second booster but have yet to come up with a date for doing so.

Today they agreed that this vaccine will be made available to all over 60 but not until Autumn when a new vaccine to combat the new strains have been approved. This will also include those who work in health environments.

Some health ministers in some regions are calling for the vaccine to be given immediately but others say it is best to wait. The Centre for Epidemiology agrees with the latter and states those who have had the first booster retain immunity in this present wave.

Those with transplants or undergoing radio or chemo therapy have already been called for the 2nd booster. The decision on when to start calling the over 80 age group will be announced by the Interdepartmental health commission at the end of the week.

The vaccine walk in centre at the Torrevieja hospital this Thursday is for those who have not completed the first round of vaccines up to the first booster and not for the second booster. You can also book the first round at your local health centre.
