Long term health cover for non-residents

Our travel Insurance only cover us for up to 35 days at a time. We are looking to come for longer. We don’t need travel Insurance but we do need health cover, just in case.

Most health cover appears to be for residents. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get longer term health cover for non-residents?

The actual health insurance companies normally only cover you for a complete year and charge your for that as well.
For anything under that then it is normally travel insurance. If you are over 50 then Saga cover you for up to 120 days.
Most travel insurance companies cover you for 90 days (the maximum time you can stay in Spain at one time)
You will also be able to get a GHIC which will cover you for basic and emergency healthcare. The travel insurance will cover you for ongoing treatment and, if necessary, repatriation.

Long term health insurance is, as you say, generally only for residents for a reason.

What I’ve learnt this weekend is most travel insurances only cover you for medical repatriation, not death repatriation.
Not a very nice subject ,but worth checking, because the bill would be horrendous if the worst happened.

Weve always said that, wherever we are, just get us cremated there.

Staysure do annual travel insurance with a maximum of 183 days in a year and you can pay extra to do 100 days in one go. They also cover pre existing medical conditions at a cost, unfortunately this year my renewal has increased by 32% with no change in my circumstances so they will get the bartering call today to see if they want to keep my business. I’m not sure if all companies have increased by 3 times inflation, time will tell.
