Help needed for problem with Gas bills

Hi, I live in Dona Pepa for about 4 months a year. Last year Gas Natural were installing gas on our community. I agreed to have the gas installed as far as our utility cupboard on the basis we might have it connected into the house at some point in the future (maybe if our electricity boiler needed replacing). It seemed a good idea should we ever intend to sell the house. After paying about 280 euros for the installation, we would only be billed the standing charge of around 8 euros every 2 months. However, Gas Natural have been estimating Gas usage. I contacted the local agent who we signed the contract with and he got the first bill amended so we got a refund. Since then, we have been billed an average of 16 Euros per month - although the gas is not even connected. I think the agent has now 'moved on'. 1) Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone know the address of Gas Natural's local office and hopefully an English speaker? I am back in Quesada early March and would like to sort this out. Many thanks! Graham

Hi Graham,

I took a little digging on their website (searching for Customer Services returned zero articles!), but under the "Customer & New Registrations" tab, you can follow a link to, "Spain/Regulated Gas Business: I don't have gas installed, or the installation is not in use....." You then follow the link to "Other contact numbers" and it takes you to this:

"Natural gas installation customer service: 900 333 730

You can request information about getting a natural gas connection, or arrange a visit to receive a no-obligation estimate on the cost of having natural gas installed.

Customer service: 900 100 252

You can request information about Readings, Regular Inspections or any other information related to the distribution network. For any questions concerning your bill, please contact your marketing company."

It appears that you may need to contact the company that were marketing the installation, rather than GasNatural themselves.

Good luck!

Kind regards,
Kim

Yes you will be paying standing charges.
Why would you think differently?

Just to clarify, our community was contacted by the Gas representatives to have Gas installed. Although we did not want gas at the time, it seemed a good idea to get the piping to our house for possible future use either by us, or anyone buying the house at some point in the future. For that we paid a fee of probably just less than EUR300. We explained our situation to the representative and it was agreed we would only pay the 'standing charge' of about EUR 3 per month. So we expected a bill of less than EUR 6 every two months.
However, in addition to the 'standing charge' the gas company is charging us 'usage' although the gas piping ends in our outside washing machine cupboard and does not come into the house.
So we are paying about EUR 40 every two months, as the Gas company is estimating gas usage. The difficulty is that the gas meter is in that cupboard and we are only in Quesada 3-4 months per year.
The representative did intervene after the first bill, but has now left the company. I am back in Quesada next week and will get the details of the gas provider and try to call them. I know I should have a bill every two months for the standing charge, but that is all.
Thanks for your help and advice on this.
