Iberdrola - Incorrect Bill

Only had 3 or 4 bills from Iberdrola but the latest one today seems to be charging me for units in December 2017 - when in actual fact we went back to the U.K. on 28th Oct - at which point I turned it off at the mains and turned it on when we returned on the 4th Jan.

We have no outside sockets and there has been no access.

Or am I reading the bill wrongly and if i’m right - can I ring and discuss it with them or am I wasting my time?

We are on a smart meter so it can’t be a reading error - can it?

We have the same problem,our bill is double the previous one with no-one being at the property,will be ringing them tomorrow.

According to that bill you have used 423Kw in the period billed

Hi Ian2009,
Could it be that the bill previous to this one was estimated, therefore the 214 units charged on this bill for the period 29/11/17 - 31/12/17 is a "catch up"? When was your meter changed over to a smart one?

I think it was July but our President would confirm so I will ask him - thank you

Yes, but 214 kw were supposedly used when we were not there and everything turned off at mains :-(

Though the smart meters have been installed in a lot of places the rest of the infastructure is nit in place yet so they are still manually reading the meters. We saw the meter read our meter on the 29/01 yet the bill i recieved yesterday evening said the charging period is from the 29/11 to 10/01. I think from things i have read in other places Iberdrola have got themselves in right mess with the smart meters/billing etc. I have emailed them and asked them what they are playing at.

We had a new house in Gran Alacant and our electricity bills were very high even when we were not there... our next door but one neighbour´s bills were quite low...

.. I contacted Iberdrola and they had wired up the meters wrongly... all the houses on the block were all connected to the wrong meters

Iberdrola put it all right and we got three rebates put back into our bank..we were very happy..

Our next door but one neighbour was not as happy.. :D

Might be worth talking to Iberdrola...
