looking for some advice. Is Iberdrola one of the dearest to have your electric with? I have been told to switch to siesta green energy, but is it worth it? Or is it standard tariffs.
My bills are between €30 and€40 even when we are not there.
Can someone give me any sound advice please. Appreciate any feedback.
Thankyou.

The price of your bills when you're not these will be a function of the maximum allowable current that you've contracted for with Iberdrola - known as the Potentia.
If your potentia is higher than you need then you'll be paying too much.

If you do switch to another provider then you won't save very much - if anything.
When you're comparing costs you need to remember that you'll still need to pay Iberdrola a fee for distribution and meter rental, so don't forget to factor that in.

My advice would be to ensure that you're on the correct potentia and the best possible tariff.

Pete.

This has been discussed many times. Iberdrola will continue to supply the contracted power (potencia) no matter who you are with and the standing charge will remain the same. You may get a cheaper Kw charge from someone else but the contracted power rate should still be the same.
Iberdrola do several tariffs which will reduce your bill and we use the day/night tariff.
For a 30 day month, if you are on the fairly standard 5.75Kw contracted power, will be:
€20.27 for the contracted power
About €1 for the rental of the meter.
Electricity tax of about €2.50
That gives you about €23.77 for the month
IVA at 21% is about €5
(Did you spot you are paying tax on a tax?)

Therefore for a 5.75Kw supply you will be paying about €29 a month before even plugging anything in.
Sometimes there can be up to 35 days in a bill month (depending on holidays etc) and others as little as 27 days.

That amount will be paid to Iberdrola regardless of the company that sells you the electricity.

Our bills, for a 3 bed all electric house inc aircon for heating and cooling have been between 50 and 60 euro a month since we switched to day/night tariff.

Iberdrola also do an "8 hour" plan which allows 8 hours of cheaper electricity per 24 hours. The advantage of this is that you get to choose the times. We opted for 9am to noon and 6pm to 11pm . You can change the times whenever you like, just don't sign up for any extras though!
We use most of our electrical appliances during this time and we're usually out during the day.

We've also opted for the 8 hour plan with similar hours: 8-11am and 6-11pm. Dishwasher, washing machine, showering and most of the cooking and cleaning are between these hours. We also rent our apartment out in the summer and most guests are out during the day. Works better for us, roughly 7.5 cents per hour cheap rate and 16.5 cents rest of the time.
