Hi everyone,
I am looking for someone who has experience with the gas central heating.
We moved into the house with the gas powered heating (big blue bottles of propane, 35 kg) and I was wondering if someone here uses the similar setup and how long would one bottle last for their home.
I understand that every house is different and every person has a different definition of feeling cold, but I am only looking for a ballpark estimate on your side.

I am a bit surprised that we burn one bottle per week (60 Euro each!), but I need to heat our house because of 2 small kids living with us. Is this normal for 2-3 bdrm house?

What is your experience with gas heating? Please share your experience.

Hi we haved changed to natural gas but with a 3 bed town house we were using 3x small botthes per week apx e160.00 every four weeks, but we do feel the cold love natural gas no lugging those bottles around, keep warm.

Alenmayer if you can not get natural gas then pay a visit to a Cepsa or Repsol dealer and get a quote to have a tank installed should cut your bills in half
There is a Cepsa showroom just as you get to Dolores on the left before the roundabout they have a tank on display outside

Great advice, thank you! I will visit them next week. Do I need to sign a contract or fill as you go? I hope it is cheaper...

So they quoted me 1,40 Eur per kg of propane, and now I am paying 1,73kg when I get the 35kg bottle for 60 Eur.
Plus the installation of over 1000 Eur.
Not viable at all...

Do you have aircon units that also blow out hot air? If so it might be cheaper to have ducted aircon units and choose your electricity plan to suit the hours you have it on most.
I have standalone aircon units in the 2 bedrooms and the living room which I put in usually early morning and evening for a burst of heat. But I've also got wall panel radiators in the bedrooms, hallway and living room which are only 400W so combined they only burn 1.6kW per hour. At an average electricity cost of 12 cents an hour, that's only 19 cents. If you leave the wall heaters on for say 16 hours a day, that's €3 a day approx, €21 a week. Much cheaper.
