There are lots of these companies around. Whatever one you choose you will stay pay the monthly standing charges as the only companies here that can provide the power is Iberdrola and Endesa. You'll still get the monthly price whether you use it or not.

Other companies can bid for the actual electricity and some can negotiate a cheaper price. Just be careful how long the deal is for, though. There have been people on here that were promised 10% (or something) off the cost and that turned out to be just for the electricity used. Then, after 3 months or so, the price went up and ended up paying the same or more with the new company they went with.

If you want to reduce the cost of your electricity (but not the provided power because that's the same) then talk to Iberdrola. This month, the price of electricity went up rather high because of the surge in demand. If you had a contract with Iberdrola it would have stayed the same as that is what they put in the contract.

You can go to the day/night plan which gives you cheaper electricity from midnight to midday so do all your heavy electrical stuff (iron, washing machine, dishwasher or whatever) between those times.

Or go to the plan where you pick 8 hours in the day where you get the cheap rate. We have 8 to 11 am and 5 to 10 pm but you can choose whatever hours you like. We do the washing machine, dishwasher etc in the morning and find the 5 to 10 pm is good for heating and aircon.

You can also get a bit knocked off if you cancel the insurance on electrical goods (your home insurance should already cover that).

Our monthly bills were around 90 to 100 euro but, on the cheap hours plan, we generally pay about 60 euro a month (except Jan and Jul where it goes back up to around 90 euro but that's the aircon for heating and cold).

Never heard of Aldro, mind, but there are dozens of such companies out there.
