It seems quite strange that HD IPTV generally would require no more than 6 and at most 8Mbps stable. We want to take out the TV package next time out but they have told us that we have to step up to 200Mbs so I am not sure you would get decent TV on 40Mbs as stated, could it simply be too slow to support TV?

You should be able to run a couple of IPTV services, a computer and a PlayStation on 50Mbps - so if someones telling you that you need 200Mbps, it is could be because that they are delivering on a quick but thoroughly misleading speed test, but in reality - or most of the time, that is not what you are really getting. ISP's can see the speed test
To tell you you need up to 200Mbps just to get better TV sounds like BS from ISP wanting to get more cash out of you.
