i understand the need for hiding my location when in Spain to use ipayer etc.
I tried a couple of free aps but found they slowed my broadband speed so much It was useless.
Any personal experiences and recommendations would be appreciated

All free VPN's have limitations imposed on them the only way of overcoming that is to purchase a VPN. Try this site www.top10bestvpn.com/reviews?redirected=1 for payable ones or this for free VPN's www.raymond.cc/blog/free-vpn-trial-accounts-list/2/

Most VPN,s will slow you up unless you go for one designed for streaming.

The answer here in Spain is to use a smartdns service like
Smartdnsproxy.com, where you dont go through their servers.

i've used http://www.gotrusted.com/index.php for a number of years, on both landline internet & beamed internet, it is fast, easy to use, reliable, & cheap. support if you have a query or problem comes within an hour or so & at night. i think they are based in USA.
you can choose your country or continent for your new ip address, & you can check on "what is my ip address" & you can see your details have been changed. I would recommend. Try the free trial & see for yourself. PS i believe at the moment i'm in Chicago! But i can be in the UK or back in Spain in seconds.

Using a VPN to mask your geolocation isn’t a good idea. VPNs can be slow, and are inherently unsafe. I would never allow any personal data to pass through a VPN.

I use Smart DNS Proxy. It’s a different technology and has none of the problems of VPNs. It’s a paid service, but isn’t expensive and they do a free 2-week trial that doesn’t require you to give any credit card details up-front.

If you sign-up to a paid subscription via this link I would get a small commission:
https://www.smartdnsproxy.com/?afid=15502ab24903
or you could go directly to the Smart DNS Proxy website.

Pete.
