MegaNet Fibre - IPTV hanging consistently.

Hi Everyone,

Is there anyone out there that is getting real issues streaming Video over a Meganet Fibre connection? I am paying for 50MB download which I am getting, however when watching TV, movies, golf etc. over the internet with my SmartTV box I am pulling my hair out due to it continually hanging.

Having been in the game many years back working for AT&T configuring quality of service over wide area networks I know the jargon and how it all comes together. When discussing my problem with Meganet I just get a load of bull!! I had no issues when on the 10MB connection with Azuretel.

Answers on a postcard please because this may turn into a divorce situation if not resolved soon.

They even threatened me with lawyers if I was to cancel!! The cheek of it!!

If by chance your smart box is connected wirelessly to your router, that could be causing the problem. If it is then buy a suitable length of fairly inexpensive Ethernet cable complete with end connectors from a Chinese Merca and connect the two peripherals by cable.

If your router is too far away, or is in another room, you can establish a wired Ethernet connection by using powerline connectors. These work through the electrical system. Two connectors plug one into the back of the router the other into the Ethernet line in your tv or box your using, press the button to establish a connection betwen the two and bingo you have a wired connection without running a cable from router to tv.

Apeed test is not an accurate test as only a short 20 boost yes they throttle back disgusting

Thank you all for your feedback. Good point about the data throttling. I will certainly ask if any traffic shaping is carried out on the link and also whether they have implemented Data Throttling. Looks to me that my connection is certainly taking a hit somewhere, when I really should have my own dedicated channel for Video streaming. Not sure as to whether this is the case here in Spain.

As far as comments re in-line adapters, cabling etc. my router, TV box and TV are all next to each other connected by good quality ethernet cable (not Chinese!!)

We have 100mb internet with Meganet as well as their IPTV. The only problem we have with TV is usually just after midnight, when the box freezes and we have to reload.
Have a word with the guys in the shop, we’ve found them to be really helpful.

Welcome to the world of spanish broadband! Like you I used to work in the business and know when I am spun a yarn. After nearly 2 years and 2 providers I have given up trying to find an honest explanation. I think in part it's contention ratios (which have strict limits in the uk) which seem to be ignored here. There seem to be no limit to the number of subscribers they will sign up regardless of infrastructure availability.

Hi
We’ve had nothing but problems with meganet always losing connection and when we ask what’s wrong they say there’s a problem in the area and we’re fixing it I’m gonna start writing down every time this happens and ask for discount :text-lol: can’t see that happening either
