i have been using TunnelBear as my VPN for some years but for the past few weeks not been able to access BBCiPlayer and I understand from TunnelBear that it has been blacklisted. Is anyone having the same trouble with other VPNs or any suggestions please.

BBC, Sky and, to a lesser extent, ITV have software which detects when a VPN is being used and blocks them.
As time goes by, their database on "dodgy" IP addresses gets bigger and more and more VPNs are being blocked.

I have had so much trouble with installing and uninstalling VPNs that I don't bother anymore. I subscribe to Amazon Prime in Spain
£79 a year on the uk site but you can't use the free, next day delivery in Spain.
€19.95 a year on the es site and you get access to all the films, TV etc plus free delivery on most things if you order from the es site.

We used to use tunnel bear but had to switch a month or so ago as just couldn't connect to BBC iPlayer. Tunnel bear was brilliant and offered to refund our subscription as we'd paid for a year.

We now use Express VPN which is a bit more expensive but have had absolutely no problems connecting.

Instead of using a VPN which can be blocked to access catch up and live tv, the best way is to use Smart Dns.

You need to change your 2 DNS settings in wifiset up.
It is a paid service and costs about £9 a year, Nothing to download and no speed loss.
Have been using this now for 4 years and works great.
If you use my link, you can have 2 weeks free trial, without putting any card details in.
Follow the instructions in how to set up for your device.

Thank you for the information on SmartDns. This seems a possible answer to my problem and will certain Bly be following this through. Sorry about the typing error! Just one question - is this easy to set up
for a technophobe? Thank you

Take a look at the SmartDNS website. They have easy to follow guides for all types of devices that take you through the process of adding a different DNS server into yt=your network settings. If you think it seems okay then sign-up for the free two week trial.

I've been using them for a couple of years and it's a great service.

Pete.

Sorry I use an Amazon firestick at the moment with a VPN but like Marcliff I am getting frustrated at the cat & mouse we have to put up with and then changing VPN suppliers once your current one is blacklisted.
I recollect someone telling me that if you wanted to set up a dns on fire tv or firestick you must have a Spanish address on your amazon account or Amazon would block you from using a dns - I think.
