Netbox is using Kodi, anything useing Kodi needs to use a number of applications.
Issues with live buffering on Kodi, in many instances are down to far too many people trying to watch the same channel stream and the hosting servers are not monitored (why would they be, they are free). So too many people hop on the streams & despite how fast your internet is, you get these type of problems with suffering or stuttering. Also faffing around with apps, which work one day, next maybe, maybe not. Call me old-fashioned, just want to turn on the TV and watch it, not go through a 'will it or won't it work' far too often, followed by more technicial updates.
Having dealt with Kodi and these type of sub free IPTV boxes, we stopped supplying/supporting this well over a year ago, as simply found far too many issues with stability and clients struggling with apps etc. Also, we noticed a deterioration in the overall stability of content, to how it had been 2-3 years previously.
A hosted service - which does cost, is different. With the right service provider they limit the amount of clients on a server, so you do not have the same type of issues, as the company is monitoring loading/use - also you don't have an app for this and an app for that - you have an integrated single software solution, much like Sky or Freesat, 7 day program guide, catch up services, on demand video content - all one piece of software.
So, as with all these things, you pay you money and you get the type of service you pay for. For me Kodi is ok for the odd free film or box set, but ran out of patience messing around with applications and things not loading, too many people also said same - we have over 3500 people in our TV community (
http://www.facebook.com/televisiontechnology) and use that as a springboard to listen to clients. Most did buy into Kodi a few years ago, though ALL of our clients eventually moved away from this into a better integrated solution.
