Just a small movement of the dish or LNB will cause a "disturbance in the force". There have been some pretty high winds over the last year and could be the problem, so could a spider or beetle getting into the LNB.
Some of the weaker channels like Drama, Yesterday etc will be particularly affected. We have had our dish realigned but still get those channels pixellating for most of the day and don't get them properly until after about 7 or 8 pm.

If you have access to the dish, check out foreign objects in the LNB. If nothing found, call one of the companies to check the alignment as they have the necessary meters and testing equipment. It will cost 40 to 50 euro to get it done, though.

Hi Marcliff
Thank you for you reply
Can you tell me what LNB stands for
The satellite Dish is under a two year warranty
so I should be able to get the provider to sort it out
free of charge hopefully

LNB is low noise block. It's the bit in the middle (most often coloured blue but other colours are available) that collects the signals from the dish and puts it down the cable to your telly.
Can sometimes have something in it or moved slightly.

Now that is obscure, LNB's are not usually blue, that I can tell you for sure - what colours? Cream or Black probably.....

I'm sure it is, but if the dish has been knocked in the wind or water got in somewhere in a storm over the winter, that may not be regarded as a fault as it is not broken. It does sound like your dish may have been knocked or moved in the wind, so could be in need of a retune - unless you have a faulty LNB. The signal is a little weaker in the morning, then gets stronger & then can weaken in the evening.

It is all channels or just the ones you are watching, have you checked all? For example you are unlikely to get ITV HD as signal too weak, even if dish tuned - so no fault. Are you using a ky box, which restricts which content you can see as is regionalised & some weaker than others - so can be a Sky box problem (if you have a Sky box).

Could be a few things, though given the levels of storms we saw over the winter, it may simply be a case if dish not been looked at for a while, may need a tune.

Good Morning,

My Sat Dish is floor mounted and has never needed re-aligning, I did find though, Hanging the washing on that triangle bit that sticks out in the middle does not help the reception to much, so try to avoid doing that !

hope that info helps

kind regards

betty

that is an epg change, specific to Sky, not a signal one - so it is not that. The signal does get stronger mid morning, then tales off again late at night - around 5% swing - any well-tuned dish you won't spot this as you will get ITV 2 & 3 24/7 - note ITV 2, 3 non HD, the HD ones are weaker. I would suggest that if ITV 2 & 3 standard definition is not working in the morning, then the dish is underperforming slightly or LNB and may need a tune - it's on the cusp, as clearly nearly gets signal, but not all the time. ITV HD 2 & 3 not stable or not last time I checked on a 1.9 - if that;s the case, on a Sky box just use the non HD versions further down the program guide.

Brilliant :D The signal hits the dish and bounces into the central element (LNB) if you have anything obstructing the dish itself signal bounceback to LNB less = not a good idea if you want to watch your TV.

If you see any signal issues during a nice sunny day, which were not apparent before - take a look for insects or something flying around the dish or LNB as can happen in the summer.
