Jillandsteve, there are a number of different services. It sound like you are using a Kodi or app based solution and those as you state can have problems.

Kodi we tend to avoid nowdays for the very reasons you state, is simply unreliable, technical and does not do the job in a stable manner. Anything with multiple apps promising free access, generally donĀ“t last for too long. Kodi also has secondary issues with too many people on servers ' just not the way to go about online TV viewing in a stable manner.

For the basics Freesat - FTA at 1.4 dish is enough for most, there are a few weak channels such as ITV HD, but even on a 1.9 (which we also have) is weak, so little benefit in going from 1.4 to 1.9 nowdays.
