Hi Mary,
It seems that clearly, the frequency is a little weak, otherwise - we'd see on the smaller dishes as well as the larger 1.9. It is possible that the channel is on the cusp of reception, so a little interference or perhaps our dish is slightly better than yours, which may be enough to make a difference on the edge of reception.
To confuse matters further, satellite reception can vary a little on the time of day - so again if right on the edge of reception, channel may drop in and out.
I have checked once again this morning at 10.10 am and Foodnetwork is working on our 1.9.
Realistically, the only thing I could suggest is that perhaps your dish needs a minor tune - when was it last checked? Bare in mind if you can get UK TV reception on a 1.4 and you have a larger dish, so it is possible for it to be not well tuned, as you have a greater margin for error - and only when you see an instance like this, with an odd channel, which theory says you should get - you do not, indicating all not 100%
If you would like a check/tune - welcome to drop the office a line 865774055 (Sue usually answers). Additionally, with the technicians measuring tools, they can go hunting for a specific channel frequency, so can check and tweak dish accordingly and if viable, they'll get anything missing.
There are other variables which could cause this, as mentioned previously as the channel frequency is at the top of the receptive spectrum, it is also plausible that an LNB which has seen better days, could be underperforming slightly - which would only make itself shown, in a situation such as this - tests can be done on this.
