Is it, could it be, why not ask the Town Hall. So, this morning i thought i would try something really different. So, i asked the staff in Spanish is the new building being built going to be your new store. The answer was 'yes', so thank you Steve who posted on the 11th November that he had asked the builder who confirmed to him that it was going to be the new Lidl store. De Nada.

My Villa actually overlooks the building work and yes I can confirm that it is going to be a new Lidl superstore and the one by Consum is going to close.

I have spoken to a number of the workmen on the site.

I just hope that the entrance to the store is not going to be where the lorries are going in and out, I am surprised the electricity pylon hasn't been hit yet, because the junction there is a nightmare. When I am in my garden all I hear during the day is the sound of car horns as well as cars crashing in to each other. There was a very serious crash there last week and two ambulances had to attend the scene.

It looks as though the Finca next door is also being encroached on, if not demolished.

I have also seen official looking men, with clipboards, walking around the area between the Finca and the Quesada roundabout.

If only the council were to put up planning notices, we may actually offer them some good advice but hey ho we are in Spain and Common Sense does not compute.

All the best to everybody

Steve

It is Lidl by the way, the sign went up just before Christmas, what I'd like to know is who'll take over their old premises once they move!

OK, let's get the rumours going.
Up the pub, I mentioned it was going to be an Aldi. I went back to the pub about 4 days later and they were all saying it was going to be an Aldi. Rumour control, hey?
So, how about:
Aldi
Chinese bazaar
We now have Iceland
Tesco overseas?
Remain a Lidl and they'll have 2 (well, they have 2 in Torevieja about the same distance apart).
DIY store.

In your own time.....carry on.

I think having 2 Lidls sounds like the best rumour as the Lidls in Consum area is always busy and this new one would take many people from the Arches and that side of Quesada. Why close a store that's doing well and why not open another one to get even more sales? Sounds like good business sense to me, if the ground rent isn't too high.

I know the men won't be with me on this one but us Ladies really need a decent shoe and handbag warehouse which incorporates a wine bar while we ponder on what to buy? :D
