Do we just drive up to them and they lift up, or do we have to put money in them or what? Just don't understand it!! Doh!!!The new Aldi store near Iceland in Torrevieja has car park barriers, so how do we get in? I have not been able to fathom it out!

Have you tried driving up to them that is the way they normaly work! you normanly only put money in on the way out and I geuss if you spend you don't pay! are these systems new to you! been around in the UK for over 40 years! and even the ones I have been to in Spain work the same way, just try it's easy ;) but I do see people having problems at the airport trying to figure out how to press a button!!

I have driven up to the barrier but it didnt go up and I had no idea what to do next!
I drove in via the pedestrian entrance and out again, much to the disbelief of passers by!!
I am nervous about going back, so I go to another Aldi......sad!!

Most of the Aldi in Torrevieja (and Lidl, come to that) have barriers. Consum in Quesada did for a while but it was creating a traffic jam. You simply press a button, take a ticket and the barrier goes up. When you buy something, they validate the ticket so you can leave without paying. If you don't buy anything, you have to pay. It's to stop all the cars parking there while they go somewhere else.

Dont worry as before long they will give up the barrier tickets as it will be to expensive just look at the ones over the years they just stay up. Regards Pete.

If the car park was full then perhaps you just needed to wait until someone left!

I don't think the barriers will last long .
Carrefour and Lidl (Habeneras ) both tried this scheme , and it only lasted weeks .

The car park only had a few cars in it.
Its all to stop people parking when they arent shopping there. Will give it another try.... thanks!
