I thought that until I saw Starbucks cracking on at Habeneras.

Marks & Spencer may charge a little more than some other high street shops but their quality is excellent. I personally do not buy their clothes but the jeans, shirts, shorts for my husband are all brilliant and keep their shape too.
I would be thrilled if they did come and I would buy their food regardless of price, it is yummy! Fingers crossed that it is Marks..it is no more expensive than Iceland or Massimo Dutti.
Please keep us posted.

Hmm, not so sure of the quality anymore. Since they started getting their stuff from the Far East the quality has really dropped. I always used to buy my trousers and shirts from M&S but the last lot I bought a couple of years ago were extremely poor. Stitching came undone on the trouser leg bottoms after a week and the lightweight cords frayed right through after a couple of months. Buttons came off the shirts and the cuffs started fraying after just a couple of washes.
I reckon it's now Primark quality at M&S prices which is a shame.
As for the food stores. Last time I went in I ended up putting the stuff back and bought over at Morrisons at half the price and just as good.
Just imagine the prices they would charge here when transport costs and IVA is added.

Anyway, still no winners in the "What will replace Lidl" sweepstakes, then.

The trouble with stores they open outside the uk the put a premium on the price of the products i.e with Gibraltar there is as much as £5 per item on the price. The silly part about this is you can go on there EU website and pay the same price as the uk and spend over a certain and get it delivered free. There quality has definitely gone down used to spend a lot in M&S but not anymore can get the same quality cheaper from other places.

I do think Mas y Mas and M & S do sound very similar after a few glasses of wine.Although it would be fantastic for M &S to come here I really don't think so
