Another favourite spot is between the Quesada Roundabout and the Los Montesinos one and they wait further on to stop you. You could see the machinery in the Car which you might think had been abandoned on the roadside.

No need to beware of, if you're a good Spaniard. Just saying!

The giveaway with the people carrier [ used this morning in conjunction with the m/cycle officers ] is that instead of using triangles to warn of disabled car they use the tripod road cones behind the vehicle ...!!!!!

Beware of the 3 legged cones ...!! ;)

If you don't speed, you won't get nicked. Simples!!!
There is no excuse for "not knowing" the speed limit, the
signs are big enough.

A year ago I got a hefty fine on the main road to Elche. It was very early morning. The speed signs approaching a roundabout go from 80 down to 40 in the space of a relative few metres. To achieve this you do have to brake very hard - anyway I was told by the officer I was doing 50. This was on an empty road as I say early morning. I believe they must have had a radar hidden at the side of the road as I saw nothing on the approach to the roundabout. I was stopped after I had passed the roundabout further down the road by a police car. It was an on the spot fine so good job I had the cash on me.

The best idea is to get a big piece of paper and put it on your dash board and write on it in large letters
"DO NOT BREAK THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT" AND AS SURE AS EGGS IS EGGS YOU WILL NOT GET STOPPED BY THE POLICE.

My point is that its actually dangerous to have to reduce speed from 80km/hr to 40 km/hour in a very short distance - the speed signs should be spaced further apart. Of course the police know this requires a sudden braking manoeuvre and the chances are they will make some money. I now approach roundabouts at 40 - with cars braking and beeping behind me !

I think they should concern themselves a little more on how to correctly enter and exit a round about and safe distance driving from the car in front of you - as those 2 cause more accidents than 20kmh over the speed limit on a safe clear road.

Unfortunately as is often the case, cameras are not put in places for better safety, but on wide open roads where there are no houses, crossings or people and speeds are easily exceeded without trying. Soft target motorists.

UK scares the hell out of me, when I go back and drive in London, I rarely get a chance to actually look at the road as shocked by the amount of various speeds signs all over the shop - everywhere. North circular 3 different speed / signs 100-200 metres apart! There really is no time to look right in front of you at the road - half of them should be removed as a liability. Lots of 'late braking' type accidents - don't tell you that do they - increased emissions, wear and tear on brakes.....
