WOW, £1100?!? That sounds hugely expensive! Use non-toll roads next time. More beautiful scenic drive, takes about the same time and save you hundreds!

hi, we are not far away from Quesada, on entre naranjos, we drive, dover to Calais.
from setting off at uk home address, with one way ferry, car fuel, the dog, and who or whatever we can get in the car, bare essential toll roads, one way is around £400 for us. we used toll roads all the way once, and it added an extra approx. 190 euros ! good luck in your choice.

I thought that I do it in one go as I dont want to have to take our big dogs into a hotel. With short breaks every 3 hrs it takes us 28hrs. From NW England

Toll roads all the way, fuel and channel tunnel it usually comes in around £750 return thats including £72 on the tunnel for the dogs.. Mind you it will cost me more this summer now the £ is worth about the same as toilet paper

Seems quite a lot we do it avoiding most toll roads...make it a pleasurably drive with usually two stops in Spain and two in France. book dog friendly apartment B&Bs hotels never more than 40 Euros in Spain...France we try and get self catering usually about 50 Euros diesel costs no more than 200 Euros probably nearer to 120 Euros ferry with 1 dog about 60 euros 4 nights accom 200 euros so about well under 500 euros and you get a pleasant drive with a mini holiday en route
If you want to do it a bit Quicker first stop Pampalona then cross the Pyrenees on the old pilgims route to Dax pick up the Bayonne Bordeaux toll rd [about 3 euros from memory] then past Bordeaux choose your own route according to what port you are heading for Strongly recommend Bookings, com you can choose options including dog friendly secure parking meals, free cancellation etc

Hi
We will be driving from Calais at Xmas. No space on Brittany Ferries to Bilbao or Santander for dogs! Going to stop at Orleans and Perpignan. Can anyone recommend dog friendly hotels at either of these locations please?

If you book your hotel through booking.com there is a filter you can apply which produces the hotels which are pet friendly.

Ibis hotels allow the dogs in your room.
