Legal drinking age

Could someone please clarify the legalities around "minors" purchasing and consuming alcohol in Spain...and if there are any specific laws to the Alicante province?

As far as I can make out...

Legal drinking age is 18;
Under-18s can drink alcohol in a restaurant if they are with older people;
Under-16s can purchase beer or wine if accompanied by adults (does that apply to spirits as well?).

There are others...but do those above stand?

Since 2015, the legal drinking age and the legal age for the purchase of alcohol has been 18. Prior to that it was 16.
If someone under the age of 18 is sold an alcoholic beverage in a bar or restaurant, the proprietor will be liable to a fine of up to €3000. You will see lots of internet sites giving the age at 16 but that was before 2015 (or 2009 in some regions).
If a parent buys alcohol and gives it to someone under the age of 18 then that is acceptable.
Now, let's talk about UK................................
