If you have gout you will have it for life just try to avoid the triggers I have had it for 60 years now and know what to avoid but they are some of the foods that I really like so sometimes I am prepared to suffer

Was first diagnosed with gout in 1986.Prescribed Allopurinol tablets(1 per day) and have had no difficulties since. Can drink, eat and have no restrictions of any kind in my daily lifestyle.Allopurinol also goes under the name of Xyloric .Highly recommended,I think you'll have to have a blood test to satisfy your doctor in the usual way.Good luck and Happy Xmas.

I am a longterm sufferer of Gout, and once spent a week in hospital with it. The main thing to know about is that there is medicine that you take to prevent Gout attacks, such as Allopurinal. However, you can still get the odd attack even when you take this medicine. If you do get an attack, it is important to stop taking this medicine straight away, as it will make the attack worse. When you get the attack, you need to swop your medicine to pain killers, be they pills, or cream to spread on the area, or a mixture of both types of pain killers.

Had gout for approx 28 years.
Initially had severe and painful attacks , but had pretty much ignored my Allupurinol prescription.
Knuckled down to taking medication daily and had no recurrence in 15 years. Have been advised this is a well proven relatively safe medication, and undergo yearly liver / kidney function tests. All good and no probs.
I realise that what works for one individual may not be 100% suitable for another, but it gets my vote as I have no contra problems with any food or drink

Colchimax and ibuprofen work for me when I have a flare up. I have found that seafood is one of my triggers. Which is a pain as I love all types.

COLCHICINE TABLETS 500mcg they can sometimes cause an upset stomach but usually sort the gout out within a few days. as a buy we moved to spain 12 weeks ago and have not had any symptoms since despite eating and drinking all the things that your not supposed to. ps the dosage is one tab a day and if you get the feeling that its on its way again one tab as soon as usually prevents it getting started.
