You'll probably get someone mentioning possible side effects, but I take Omeprazole and that sorts it. About 3.20 for 28 days supply and you can buy over the counter at any Farmacia.

Quick and temporary relief is a drink of milk. It puts a lining on all your bits and suppresses the acid.

I occasionally suffer from bouts, omezeprol and stuff like that is a preventative rather than a cure so the only thing that helps me is nexium, you cAn buy it over the counter it’s around 16 euro but after a couple of days all acid etc has calmed down so I find it well worth it.

Try Almax, in sachets or tablets. I use the sachets and it's pretty quick

Omeprazole are 20mg (same as UK) and cost €2.43 for a month's supply from the farmacia in Dona Pepa (opposite Gama). Caution, some farmacias will try and sell the branded ones which are more expensive. 10 times as much in the one in Zenia Boulevard.

I find that Gaviscon tablets do the trick for me. Just one tablet whenever symptoms occour clears it up.
