Is 5.00am a bit late for disco music?

Dear Quesadians. 1st post so please be gentle with me.
Me and my wife have lived in Quesada for a couple of years now and love it. We are English, have taken Spanish residency and have a question regarding noise. We are a couple of Calle's up from the Lagona hotel and have seen a flyer from the hotel stating they are having a New Year's Eve Gala with disco music until 5.00am! Unfortunately the hotel has no respect for the surrounding residents when it comes to noise not even replying to correspondence following previous events they have had and ask if anyone know if there are any do's and don't regarding notice disturbance. The other bars and restaurants all turn the entertainment down/off at midnight during the year and 1.00ish New Years which is perfectly acceptable but 5.00am really! I guess I'm peeing in to the wind but thought I'd ask.

They may have requested a special license seeing as it is New Years Eve but the general rule of thumb (and I got this from the Police) is music in licensed premises is OK up to 12:00. So you will see NY Eve could be an exception.

There is a law in Spain which does not translate back to English exactly but it is a "Courtesy Law". This covers annoying music in urbanisations (any time of the day) inconsiderate neighbours etc. Most people try and tell you everything is all OK up to 12 midnight and that is what Spain is all about. This is incorrect. A lot of people Spanish and not work and therefore have to be up early and properties rented out to holiday makers alike are no exception to this rule.

As it is New Years Eve I would either join in the party of get yourself some really good ear plugs.

Hope this helps and a Happy New Year to you and everyone.

G

They may have dispensation for New Year's Eve, the same as they do during the Quesada August festival.
As said, normally loud music down or off at midnight but New Year's Eve would probably be different.

It is quite usual for the Spanish to celebrate New Year up to 4-5am.
It´s what they do.

Some people really do need to lighten up a bit New Years eve comes once a year only so a bit of music going on for a few extra hours isn't going to kill anyone is it,if the music is going to disturb your beauty sleep then get yourself a good pair of ear plugs and have a few drinks and you will sleep like a log. :text-lol: :text-lol:

I'm glad it does only come once a year as it also happens to be my birthday! I normally celebrate throughout the day and as I get older I find I am lucky if I stay up long enough to see midnight in - hic :text-lol:
