Thank you, that's interesting.
Enjoy El Pinet. We regularly go to Hostal Maruja and it's great. You won't get any closer to the beach than their terrace! Gallego is good, and there is another called Hostal Galicia, but that one wasn't open for the new season as at Thursday when we were down that way.

TonTri wrote:Funnily enough we did Santa Pola marina on Thursday as we changed the hire car. I think we parked in the car park you mention. We stopped for coffee and a tostada and watched the fishermen with their nets. As you say, it's a lovely place for a day out.

Another place you might want to try if you havent been recently is not too far away at Playa El Pinet, Restaurante Gallego Playa. It is nothing to look at as you approach from the carpark and in fact the area looks shut. We went there the week before last and it has a wonderful terrace right on the beach. It was really busy with many people coming and going midday-ish. Decent menu, but there is another restaurant a little further down the rather drab line of buildings, Hostal Maruja which we are going to try next time. That also has a terrace on the beach and seemed a better menu.

Hi Hostal Maruja is our favorite but normally only open in the season! link below. had a drink at Gallego Playa New Years Day just great but gets busy.

Hi Scubydoo. Hostal Maruja was open when we went week before last. We didnt notice it though until after we had left Gallego Playa and thought we would try it next time.

Geofflo, we went down to Hostal Galicia but that was shut, obviously for the winter. Is it any good?

As a bit of a deviation, has anyone tried La Mirada at La Zenia beach or Chiringuito Popeye at Pilar de la Horadada? We are thinking of trying them next week, although I'm not sure if the latter might only open in the summer.

Yes, Galicia is good, and right on the beach like Maruja & Gallego, but wasn't open yet as of Thursday this week.

ADVICE TO ALL TOURISTS.

Both restaurants at El Pinet have now closed permanently, and the beach is polluted....suggest you try somewhere else.
;)

When did this happen then??
Hostal Maruja, for example, posted a live video an hour ago on Facebook and you can see the waiter setting up the tables!!
