I just had a look in my box of bits and came across this:

I don’t know which model of Firstline aircon it’s for, but it does seem to be working.
If it’s like yours then you’re more than welcome to have it. The only problem is that it (and me) are in the UK at the moment and won’t be in Spain again until after Easter.
I’d be happy to post it to you in the UK if that helps at all.

Pete.

Thanks for the apology about the universal remote and the link is to the one we did buy. Looking at the remote you have found it is different to our old one.

Looking at the manufacturers website for the universal remote that you bought from Amazon, it doesn’t list Firstline at all in the codes section:
https://superior-electronics.com/en/?ddownload=10210

Have you tried using the Auto Search function?

It is also worth testing your original remote with a digital camera/phone in a darkened room to see if you get light from the IR LED when you press a button. If you do then tit may be the receiver on the aircon unit that’s faulty. You could try cutting the power to the aircon (at the fuse box) and see if that resets it and gets it responding again.

Thanks Pete. I have also contacted the company selling the remote and they in turn have now made contact with the manufacturer for the code.

Our old remote doesn’t work at all as when we got it the batteries had leaked in it. My husband checked the voltage to the circuit & that was ok, so thinks it is a component in the circuit. He has also tried reset of the air con as you suggested. We have someone coming to look at it for us today now as we could do with heat in the evenings!

Thanks very much for your advice.

There is way to turn the aircon on without the remote control. You lift up the flap on the front and there should be two switches. The bottom one is the "Emergency Operation" switch. This turns the aircon in "auto" mode. It assesses the room temperature and decides which is the most appropriate mode (heating hopefully in your case) and goes to work.
