Nothing. The E111 was replaced several years ago by the EHIC card. This card gives you
access to emergency treatment whilst abroad. It is a back up to your travel insurance
but doesn't replace that insurance. Whilst in Spain on holiday you should have both.

I had an allergic reaction to a bite this week and had to have an injection along with a course of antibiotics. They asked for my ehic at the clinic and issued me a temporary sip. I took along my travel insurance too but they didn't ask to see it. I always assumed treatment would be claimed off the travel insurance but this was claimed through the ehic card. Anyway, I've no grumbles, the health care I received was excellent and the prescription only cost €1.95!

I have nothing but high praise fot the Health service in Torrevieja area
Last week I had to go for Xrays to Torrevieja University Hospital ,my appointment was for 10.30 as I like to be early I was there at 9.35 and went straight to the machine put my SIP card in and a ticket was issued I went down to the Radiology department and prepared for a wait I had been there less than a minute when a young man came out and asked my name and said please go in now, Xrays were done there and then , at 9.50 I was in my car on way home
Fantastic service
