Hi,
We are relatively new in Spain and therefore such a question. I want to ask which filter coffee do people recommand to buy from the shops here. I have tried a few brands like Bonka but they are not good for filter coffee maker.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

I have tried them all but Mercadona seem to be the best but I use beans and a machine that deals with it all best thing ever

Whichever brand you prefer make sure that it contains 100% Arabica beans for good quality coffee

When I go into a restaurant, cafe, bar etc do I get that wonderful coffee aroma, I can almost taste that wonderful taste, but bought brands fail miserably at both taste and smell.

There are dozens of good coffees in the supermarkets. Strength and flavour listed in a numbering system 1 to 8 (8 being the strongest). I've tried loads and some are not very good but we have come around to Consum own brand beans.
Put them in the coffee mill and you don't need that many beans to get two good cups. You can coarse grind the beans or fine grind them. The finer you grind, the more the flavour. If you're using a filter then a medium grind is better so it doesn't seep through the paper. The same for a cafetiere.
We use a coffee machine (not a pod type one) and fine grind into a holder. The water then seeps through to the cups below.
I find the Nestle ones are usually quite weak with a poor aroma.
As said, Arabica for a good taste and a Mezcla (mixture) if you like it milder.
