Don't know if people have read Eye On Spain today but from March 25th banks can't charge more than €3.00 per month on current accounts so in my case 36.00 per year instead of €26.00 every three months. Happy Days!!

As a resident, there are plenty of banks/accounts that are totally free if you pay in a certain amount every month. For instance, we have a Sabadell expansión joint account and have totally free banking if we pay in 700€ per month. A UK old age pension is almost, at the moment, enough in itself.

Hi you guys at moment pension still paid into English account then we transfer when rate is good, we were never told that before so thanks for the heads up! Jules

Bankia just requires 200 euro a month if it's a pension to get free banking. Only one debit card free, though.

Chef lady, that is great news, I hope it includes my sabadell account, would save us around 65€. Always better in my purse than the banks coffers.

As everyone says, great news, let’s hope it applies to all accounts not just residents! I’m with Bankia and currently pay 15 euros a quarter plus a debit card fee of 28 euros, without the debit card I can’t operate online banking!
