When my wife and I went, we thought we were supposed to go to INSS but were just going to ask where that was.
However she saw our S1s and sbefore we'd even had time to ask, she asked us to give them to her & she could do it all...
But that was a few years ago, so things may have changed, but saved us a journey :)

She was unable to issue it and we were told that we have to go to Instituto Nacional de la Seguridad in Torrevieja. My post is to warn people not to go to Rojales if applying for the first time. It would seem you have to attend Torrevieja, has anyone else done this?

That's strange, NannyAbroad, I went last Tuesday and she took in all our documents, S1s etc and just told me to come back in 4 weeks for the SIP cards. She can't issue them herself but as Martin the ARtist suggests in his post she will take the documents for you ( hence you have to wait and come back for the cards a few weeks later). I wasn't asking for anything 'in the meantime' eg a temporary SIP or anything, just wanted our S1s to start being processed into the system. I am happier to wait the 4 weeks than have to trail into Torrievieja and find the right place. But I understand from other posters that if you go to the INSS office in Torrievieja they will do it more or less straight away so if you can go there there's no harm.

You certainly seem to be getting the extra hurdle practice!

Having said that..
I'll keep my fingers crossed I'll actually get the SIP cards in due course... not celebrating prematurely...that would be bound to attract trouble...
