ExPat Travel insurance to the UK

Hi, can anyone advise please. I have used Staysure Travel Insurance for some years now (very satisfied). I called them today to get cover for an up and coming trip to the UK. Shocked, they are not insuring expats until further notice due to Brexit would you believe. Are there other companies around that will offer a policy?

I think you'll find a number an increasing number of companies operating similar policies and who can blame them?

Just a couple of weeks ago I reported that Insurance4carhire were declining new business from March 29th.

Your choice of course and clearly I don't know your circumstances but while not wishing to pry I'm curious to know why you think you need medical insurance for a simple trip back to UK?

BTW I wonder what your satisfaction with Staysure is based on, have you ever made a claim?

If not then recommendations have to be viewed as premature and without foundation. I considered them for my 2016 trip to Australia prompted by their much vaunted 'no problem' attitude to preexisting conditions but when I phoned them to drill down into that (I couldn't fully and honestly answer the online questions) it turned out to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors and in fact everything was excluded so I went with another company (ING) who openly and honestly excluded them which is as to be expected.

If anybody knows of a company which does genuinely (and provably) cover preexistings - and at a price mortals can actually afford - then pray do tell but I'm not holding my breath!

Good morning A N Other,

Thank you for your speedy response. Can I ask you please why you question getting insurance at all going to the UK? So then, if armed with an up-to-date EHIC and a Spanish SIP card, do you know if I could use the UK NHS if needed? I was doubtful previously because I had reason to go to the doctors in the UK which resulted in a quick consultation followed by a prescription but the doctor said If I needed another consultation/prescription I would have to pay!!!!!

Yes I have had cause to use Staysure Medical in the past but fortunately it was not a major major illness or accident. Unfortunately my health isn’t the best but I now stable.

Thank you in advance.
