That wont be your NIE once you have that its your for life, no need to renew,
it will be your non residents cert that the bank wants to renew, dont know if you can do it yourself? but I bet Marcliff on here will!

Non resident certificate is obtained from a National Police station or a foreigner's office by downloading the EX18.
This is the same form that you use for the residence procedure but you tick the box De no residencia or Residencia Temporal at the bottom.
You need to make an appointment online to process it.
You will also need a modelo 052 012 if you are going to a National Police station or a modelo 052 790 if going to a foreigners' office. The fee at the beginning of the year was €7.03 which is paid at a bank first.

As this will be a non-resident certificate for fiscal purposes, you need to contact the tax office to have it put on file there. I've never done that so I have no idea how you would do that.

Just like the bank one, it has to be renewed every two years. Considering the National Police station at Elche (Or others) don't speak English, you may need an interpreter or agent. This would, I think, come to more than the bank charges.

I leave the non-res declaration with Matt at Villas Amarillas who took care of our conveyancing several years ago. Apparently, the billing system has changed this year. I think we pay around 45 Euros each in May for the declarations and then the Tax authorities will debit our account for the tax itself in December.
I do get a copy of the declarations and have considered trying to do it myself but decided to leave it with Matt.

Good reply ,but I think loner means the non resident cert at the bank , ,not the non residents tax which is payable yearly,

I agree, Glassman, sounds like two things are being mixed up here: the Non-resident certificate, which is required every two years, and the Non-resident tax return, which has to be submitted annually (or quarterly if you let out your property).
