Price up a new printer. But remember, the cheaper the printer, the more expensive the ink. You buy the printer once, you buy the ink many times.

So the REAl strategy in buying a new printer is to find the cheapest ink and see what printer use that ink, and then work out if any of those printers do what you want them to do. Home printers of the inkjet variety are pretty much unrepairable throwaway tech. Even low-end laserjets are these days.

I use an Epson P50 photo printer. It was about £100 ten years ago, which was expensive at the time, I can get a complete set of 6 x 25ml ink carts for it for about £10-£20 nowadays. its never failed.

We always but a new printer when the old one fails. They just aren’t built to last these days. Our last printer was under a year old when the ink cartridges were no longer available. Shop we bought it from was most unhelpful, they just said buy a new printer. Doh!
