Benimar is ok, incredibly dramatic thunder and lightening and the rain just hasn't stopped since last night but being up the hill rather than down, water running down the streets but nothing flooded I think. Think the river down in Rojales pretty high and all round golf course flooded but we are in Benimar right now ( about halfway up Topacio) and it's not so bad as others. Got a bit of leaky porch roof, but that's happened before in heavy rain. Main thing has been heart-attack inducing thunder claps. Even my normally fearless cats have taken refuge under the bed covers...

We live by the golf course and just woke up to find the car had shifted 20 metres down the road due the the amount of water cascading down the road.
Moved it onto the drive now and would recommend everyone else doing the same for today.

Today, Sat.14th Rojales closed to through traffic! Segura about to burst banks! Marquesa gold course, lower level by village completely submerged! Inaccessible to traffic. Had a 10min
Tornado at 5am! Very scary with load roaring noise and sheet lightening, hurrendous winds and rain.

PM me with your email and U will send you photos of Marquesa area!

But all calm this morning in Benimar, which is where the OP was asking about so no need to panick the OP. Yes the storm in the early hours was very scary ( some say a kind of tornado? But not confirmed) but checked all round our house in Benimar and no damage. I'm sure everyone would like to see the pics of La Marquesa area so Lizzy please upload them here? Here's a pic of Benimar just now. Many thing last night was the place swamped with cars parked everywhere, suspect it was people moving their cars up here from Rojales village to get them out of harm's way.
