We have a good breadmaker, but havent had much sucess here yet, because spanish flour doesnt seem to work well - anyone know of a source of decent strong bread flour?

My son in law loves to bake and for a while had his own business doing it, he bakes for us when he's here but he's never complained about the flour.

I don't know exactly where he's found it but I know it hasn't been a hunt so must have been in one of the major supermarkets, or Iceland, or possibly Pick-N-Pay.

I'll ask 'er indoors when she gets up.

Look in consum amongst the fresh bread they used to sell bags of it there, clear bags. Not sure if they still do as I do not make my own anymore.

Hi,
I use harina fuerza which is from Mercadona which is the strong bread flour( sure you can get it from other supermarkets), and I use their dried sachets of yeast and it makes lovely bread.

Same here. We use a breadmaker machine. Just make sure you are buying Harina Fuerza which is readily
available in Lidl, Mercadona, Mas y Mas, Aldi, etc. Iceland too but more expensive.
We also use the sachets of dried yeast or 'Levadura de Panaderia'. Lovely bread every time.

You definitely need to check it says harina fuerza (strong flour). Some of the harina de pan (bread flour) doesn't work very well but the ones with fuerza on certainly do.
Gama has UK branded strong flour and Iceland Allinson strong bread flour at €2.50 for 1.5kg is not particularly expensive and even Hovis strong white or wholemeal bread flour at €3.50 is not that bad either although Carreour has several strong flours starting at 73 cents for a kilo.
