Not completely knowing the type of road if it’s private or public, but I do know if it’s a public road you should park on the side of road going with the flow and not cross line to park facing against traffic,
Hope that made sense,
Regards Altos

There is a reason for this, it’s a rule in NZ, if the car is parked facing the direction when a car approaches during darkness the rear red lights will be visible so making the driver know there are vehicles parked.

I thought cars were fitted with headlamps so that in hours of darkness they could see and be seen. It's a pretty poor driver who can't see a parked car whatever way round it's been parked.

The world has moved on slightly since many of these rules were made e.g.....reflective number plates, vastly improved headlamps with increased brightness, improved street lighting, automatic driver aids etc.

Driverless cars will arrive soon.......that should sort out any problems !

I’m sorry your neighbour is one of those people who thinks they know everything but I do know that some of my neighbours were fined €100 a couple of years ago for not parking on the flow of traffic side of the road because at that time the police had a ‘purge’. As far as house colours go most communities have to stick to the same colours but in ours their is a range of shades so we haven’t to be all identical but we blend in if you know what I mean and I must admit it does make the community look more attractive. But best to speak to your president I think.

Would you prefer if she hadn't told you about the paint colour and then you ended up having to paint everything again. As for the parking well that rule applies in the UK as well as Spain. She is only giving you the heads-up. There are generally rules for swimming pool usage, noise after 12.00pm and before 7.00am. Waste water disposal i.e not letting it flow out into communal areas, tv antennas and dishes, balcony/porch enclosures, washing lines, wall heights, wall types, party walls......so now you know.

I have read on the forum about more rules while driving, you must have a shirt/ top on , cannot drive with your arm out the window, no flip flops, also you cannot eat or drink whilst driving, not sure how accurate this is. ,!!

Some roads have signs telling you when to park on each side of the road. The sign will be blue with a red outer circle & red diagonal line across it,it will have numbers on too, usually saying 1-15 which means you must park on that side of the road 1st to 15th of the month & then the opposite side of the road 16th to 31st. There are also rules as to how long you can park on certain town/village roads without moving the vehicle, a friend of mine living in Rojales had his car taken by the grua 'cos it hadn't moved for two weeks.

Join the N332 page on facebook. Its a very good page with most of the rules and regulations of driving in Spain straight from the horses mouth. A few traffico police run this page on a voluntary basis to help us all.

Most of the points are common sense unfortunately sense is not very common! Driving with flip flops is dangerous, eating/drinking using a phone are also dangerous as your not focusing on the road...

during a 10 minute conversation she came accross as quite knowledgeable and informed me that she would ask the president to pop by and introduce himself too.

during the day, i was out and about taking things to charity shops and removing rubbish etc, when she approached me and asked if i would drive to the top of the road to turn the car round so that it was facing down the road, like her car? looking down the street there were one or two cars parked the same way i was, but she told me that it was law in spain. Could someone tell me if this is correct please, i dont want to antagonise her, but i would like to know if this is the law?

further that day i was outside with someone who was giving me a quote for re-painting the property, when she appeared again, stating that I could only paint it the colour it is now, whilst i understand i may have ask the "president" about this I wondered if anyone had any conditions like these with their properties. I am due to go back to the house at Christmas, and absolutely dreading it.

Many thanks
Prehaps this will point out to others buying on a community,to ask to see a copy of the rules of the community when viewing the property,or should the be included in the estate agents speil. before they decide is this for me/us.
