Car ITV & Service

Hi

We bought a car earlier this year. The ITV runs out about 5 days before our July holiday next year. Should be get it renewed early in May or can we be 5 days late?

What is the process for ITV? Do we have to take car and wait or can a garage do a service/check and take it for ITV for us?

Any recommendations in the Rojales area for a good honest garage?

Thanks

You can’t legally drive the car if the ITV has expired.

You should read this, it explains everything you need to know (and more)....

Suggest Autos Direct who did mine 3 yrs ago.

I’ve had very bad experiences with Venture Fleet. Kept my car a week to fit 2 sensors. A month later kept it for 7 WEEKS to repair cylinder head. 1 week later back again for 2 weeks to replace the turbo which could have been damaged by them. All in all nearly €2000 spent and lo and behold had the car back a week and yesterday the engine warning light is on suggesting an emissions control issue which they told me had all been serviced.

I bought my little runabout from Autos Direct in September and have had fantastic service from them. They have offered to take my car for its ITV in June if I am not in Spain then. I think you can do it up to a month before but not after.

Oh and they also have a service centre. I don't know how their prices compare but it's worth asking.

Our friend also had a very bad experience with Venture Fleet. Kept the car for 3 months, cost over 1,000€ and still never fixed the problem (oil leak). Car went back and forth for about another couple of months before finally expiring and had to be towed back home.

A very good point. However unless your Spanish is good...and mine isn’t....it’s difficult to understand the techie bits
