Some photod here https://www.diarioinformacion.com/ they think it started in an office or one of the shops. Flights still moving. Some have been diverted to Valencia and Murcia international. No private cars are allowed in only taxis. I presume it is under control now but the clean-up has to be finished.

They are to have a meeting at 8.00am to give a definite time of when operations will resume. They are advising passengers not to go to the airport but to check with their airline first.

It is bad enough that it happened this time of the year with just 2000 people in the airport at the time but can't you just imagine the chaos if this had happened during the summer months.

A bit more information. 160 flights and some 24000 passengers are affected. Easyjet have stepped up to the mark and rescheduled all their flights to Murcia International at Covera. No news from other airlines. The fire is in the ceiling area and the VIP lounge area so its difficult to get at and there are a lot of different materials, some of which aren't responding to the foam. There are 50 firefighters working on it throughout the night. What an unfortunate incident.

Both Ryanair and Easyjet have now transferred their flights to Murcia Corvera Airport which is a bit of good news for passengers.
