Problem with lockdown

I know everyone is bored senseless and going stir crazy with so much time on their hands, but please please stop the bickering.

Healthy debate is good as is friendly banter but lately posts are getting more and more aggressive and in some cases downright rude to other posters. We've all got to get along with this together so let's keep things friendly eh?

TonTri...I'd agree with you. We get shot of bloody Brexit, and then other things come along!

The forum has gone significantly downhill over the last 6-12 months in terms of more and more trolls and keyboard warriors appearing.

It's also all down to everyone being so split and fragmented in today's society. Many people believe that only their opinion is valid, and instead of having adult debate, they resort to name-calling.

There are also those who are the "know-it-alls" who love to collect their little keyboard army of followers, and can spread what Mr Trump would call "Fake News" as much as they want without question.

Maybe one option would be to make the forum subscription-based, with a monthly payment.

At least that might keep some of the trolls at bay.

I don't think the forum has gone down hill - always get arguments on forums from time to time and these are troubling times.

Unfortunately, subscriptions would be the quickest way to kill the website, most do not expect to pay for information they can find free in other places.

Unfortunately, we all know Brexit has caused an argument or two, including my own family - and people take news from different resources, which we know sometimes can be misleading or send people down the wrong path.

Just a little more common courtesy 'we agree to disagree etc'.

We find the forum a lifeline. We live in England, but with an apartment in Spain. This keeps us in touch. Frankly the trivia is the best. Knowing that life goes on during the lockdowns gives hope that sometime we will be out of this mess, although we can’t see that life will ever get back to “normal”.

At least try to “Always look on the bright side”!

The forum is great! Lots of clever people have the answer within minutes! I find it invaluable! Please just ignore comments if you find them offensive or smart arsed! Surely, its like life, just sift out the chaff!

Please dont impose a fee to be a member!

This is one of the best forums and is well "policed" by Alex. Yes there are the usual know-alls but surely we're all capable of scrolling past if we don't like or disagree with something?

I agree, just a shame some posters can't resist piping up with something controversial or scathing.
